Dendritic cells (DC) are a heterogeneous family of cells that function as sentinels of the immune system. This article summarizes observations suggesting that inflammatory chemokines secreted at the site of pathogen invasion determine the DC subset recruited and influence the class of the immune response initiated.

(2021) manipulate synaptic organizers GluD2 and cerebellin-1 to show that Purkinje cells regulate how their dendrites branch by competing with neighboring cells for synaptic real estate.

Dendritic cells (DCs) are antigen-presenting cells derived from bone marrow precursors and form a widely distributed cellular system throughout the body. DCs exert immune-surveillance for exogenous and endogenous antigens and the later activation of naive T lymphocytes giving rise to various immunological responses.

2020-07-17 · B cells have special receptors that bind to one type of antigen. These cells differentiate and mature inside the spleen but are naïve. As with the T lymphocytes, B cells need to be activated. While T cells are activated by antigen-presenting cells and cytokines, B cells use their surface receptors to bind directly to an antigen.

Multipolar neurons have many processes that extend from the cell body. 2020-02-03 Dendritic cells (DCs), named for their probing, ‘tree-like’ or dendritic shapes, are responsible for the initiation of adaptive immune responses and hence function as the ‘sentinels’ of the immune system. Paul Langerhans first described DCs in human skin in 1868 but thought they were cutaneous nerve cells.

2017-08-02 · Dendritic cells are a type of white blood cells which are popular as antigen presenting cells. They play an important role in the adaptive immune system. Dendritic cells are capable of inducing a primary immune response in the inactive or resting naive T lymphocytes against the pathogens.

Their main function is to process antigen material and present it on the cell surface to the T cells of the immune system. They act as messengers between the innate and the adaptive immune systems . 2019-02-26 · Dendritic cells are a type of antigen-presenting cell (APC) that form an important role in the adaptive immune system.
